The most straight forward, easy-to-use background remover I've tried. Super easy to use. It removes complex backgrounds perfectly without subtracting from the focal point you want to keep. Adding a different background is easy, too. I knocked one star off because the paid version is (imo) extremely high, & because you cannot at least preview backgrounds from the premium version . I'm going to keep the free version and delete the other background erasers I have. Great app!

I generally do love this app!! It is definitely my go-to for background removal now! it also does excellent at retouch blending (removing objects) & has awesome options to enhance the pictures. The only thing it's really missing for me is the ability to sharpen and clean up a photo when needed. Instead, you have to use another app for that.

Love this app, it has been a total game changer for my photos and its very easy to use. I've been using it for about 6 months and came back to this page looking to install an update. I had the same issue with the batch function that some people are leaving 1 star reviews for, but clicking on an update that took 20 seconds to install completely fixed the problem for me!

Works so well for my needs. Does a great job of instantly removing the background so I can post quickly and sell my goods. That said, I'd love to upgrade - but that's an insane price. I'm not sure what the developers are thinking or who they're targeting for $10 a month. A shame because I'd use this app forever if it was a one time price, instead I'll be looking for a MUCH cheaper alternative.

It's a pretty cool app but not anything worth the price. The main feature of cutting out objects and putting them on a background isn't the most well refined. The app is also hard to navigate, you'll lose track templates and never see them again. It also has major issues loading templates even with strong signal or wifi. Great app but needs work to be worth almost 70+ dollars a year..

I started out with the free version which was great. Allowing the option to resize each photo to fit the website of your choosing was huge. For me it was Mercari, anytime I'd upload a photo on Mercari 25% of the photo would be cropped out. I loved Photoroom so much so that I decided to pay the $10 a month just to see what I was missing. The initial version was sufficient for what I needed. Only problem is once I returned to the basic version they cut the only feature I needed. What a shame.

Highly impressed!! 100% worth it! I suggest the PRO version. There are so many different options. This app is going to save me so much time, versus erasing backgrounds myself. I haven't had to edit any of the pictures either like I usually have to with other apps - where the app removed items that weren't the background or didn't remove enough. I didn't have to adjust any lighting or bring out the backdrops, my white wall & table worked. DEFINITELY suggest trying this out! THANKS!

Overall it's a great app. One of the better apps I've found and have the paid sub. Using the S21 ultra camera, after the photoroom app does its magic sometimes the photos tend to look blurry around the edges. I also liked when the grid was there. Would like to see it come back. Another feature that I would like to see implemented is to have level bubbles so you know if when using your phone to take pics that you have a level horizontal and vertical camera shot.

This app is excellent at what it does– quickly isolating a subject from a background and doing some light retouching. It's made primarily for one use case -- selling things online. If you are a person who sells a lot on eBay/ Poshmark, etc., you might find it worth paying for. If you are seeking a paid general photo editor you'd be better off with a subscription to Photoshop. It's literally only 49 cents (USD) a month more.

The erase/restore portion of the cutout does not work properly after the update. The older version had a better detection of how far to cut out the picture from the background and it was much faster editing photos. Now, when it removes backgrounds from photos, it comes out all wonky and weird looking. There is no smoothness to the product. I hope this gets fixed because at this rate, I would rather just edit the pictures using another app since I am spending more time rediting pictures after.

Works well. Though, it seems pretty difficult to get rid of background that the app doesn't get. And, it would be nice to have a tolerance level like on photoshop so you don't erase what you want to keep. When you take selfies, and want to easily erase the background try to take a picture with just a couple colors behind you.

UPDATE: STILL BEST BACKGROUND REMOVER! I upgraded to pro & for the most part have been very happy. Can't find a single app that has it all, but this is still the best if removing background is your priority. It does crash some, but auto saves, so not a huge deal. I have a wish-list of skills I'd like to see added, like cut/paste & a better image service than Splash. Seriously blah. I have to import 75% of my images from other sources. That's what the reduced star is for.

I really appreciate that photoroom continues to get better and better and really aims to delivery an A+ image editing service. I remember back a year or so ago, removing the background for shoes would have quite a few issues and I'd have to go through and do a lot of editing, but it really surprised me when it worked perfectly for items I was sure it would have a problem with. Totally a time saver and game changer for me and my reselling business! Absolutely worth the subscription!

If I could I would give it 4 ¾ stars... I like the idea of the AI assisted eraser, however I personally find the tools for refining the image result can be rather too touchy at times. I find myself having to delete and replace the image outline over and over again in the same little area. This tends to get very tedious very quickly. I wish there was a better way to make it more or less sensitive to the image outline. Something I hope comes to fruition with time.

It's a magical application, and I highly recommend it; but I'm just a hobbiest. As it stands I have to use 3 to 4 apps to get the desired results I want. If one of them provided me with everything I needed fine... They don't though, but they all want to reach into my wallet for a monthly fee. Make a one time buy option that just gets rid of the watermark. Then have a subscription for people who want additional frames and features. I miss the days you could just, you know.... Buy something.

As noted in some of the other reviews, there are some glitches with removing all the background sometimes. It seems to depend on the amount of contrast between the object and background. I've been able to compensate by easily changing background to slightly darker than the white I typically use. Overall, however, it's been a game-changer for my online vintage clothing business. I was almost to the point of investing in some pricey studio lamps and pull-down back drop options. Now I don't need that with PhotoRoom, which allows me to change the background and easily tweak the lighting. This is surely one of the best investments I've made in my small online business.

The concept and functions are great, but it glitches WAY more often than it works, making it insanely frustrating to use. I click on a photo to scan and it does nothing. I click on something else & most of the time it does nothing, sometimes it'll start scanning the picture I pressed a while ago. I have to close out the app multiple times in a session because the buttons will stop working or it glitches, & I lose all my progress. Really wanted this to work, but it gets worse every time I use it.

I love this app for dropping backgrounds! I manipulate a lot of graphics for work, so I have at least 5 softwares for doing so. This app drops backgrounds faster and better than all of them; even those that cost thousands of dollars! It's "smart" and detects what type of "thing" the focal point is (I.e.-dog, table, plant, etc.) and offers numerous types of backgrounds. Whether you want it transparent, novelty, or for marketing needs, there are plenty of options. The free version is great, too.
