Very cool way to learn languages, but the app is buggy. Still after the last update: I'm trying to put any song at 0.8x but it's actually 0.5x, and when I put them at 0.9x it's actually 1x - totally nonsense. Before the last update (not sure if still relevant): Sometimes the app crashes, and sometimes the subtitles don't compare, so that I have to restart the app.

Signed up for a 7 day free trial and was disappointed with what was offered and how the user interface was set up. Not the end of the world so I went to cancell, no harm no foul. However whe. You go to cancel they offer an additional 2 weeks for free with assurance they will contact you before you are charged. They don't, there was no communication with me before a year's subscription was stolen from my account. Very shady practices and would avoid at all costs

I am taking a 4-pronged approach to learning Italian. 1) Duolingo because it helps to build an intuition for how the simple bits of the language work, and to give me the tools to build my own sentences. 2) Memrise to help with common phrases, as Duo is virtually useless for this. 3) Lingopie to push beyond my comfort zone, especially to improve my understanding of complex conversations. 4) A classic textbook to understand formal grammar and syntax and as a reference when I'm lost.

I loved using this app at first. It is a great way to listen to the language and start to learn dialect. Over time I realized that some of the translations are more buffed out than others. I would've given it 3 stars but being ready to move on from the app, I find I couldn't cancel it because google doesn't register it and lingo won't cancel through the app..

Great concept, but poorly executed. Subtitles and screen controls almost completely block the show being watched. I find watching shows with original language subtitles on a regular platform and then using word reference or Spanish dict to translate words or phrases I don't understand much more effective. The whole point is supposed to be learning while enjoying the shows, but how can we enjoy them , if we can't see them?

I had it for about a year and hardly used it because when I would study I would try to write down every word it didn't know which got exhausting and I would only do a few minutes. now I just click on the translation of each word I don't know and continue with watching, and I can't believe I never did this before. I'm learning so much and so fast! the flashcards and quizzes are super helpful too.

Really disappointing! I feel taken in, and I'm sorry that I didn't read more reviews before purchasing. My Android app stopped working (I can't log in despite repeated reinstalls) just as my trial period ended at the end of April. My email request for support went unanswered. The site claims that unsubscribing is easy, but the option doesn't even *appear* in several browsers. It's not clear that I can get even a partial credit if I unsubscribe, so it looks like I paid $60 for about 10 minutes of learning. More specific feedback: I'm an intermediate (5 years of learning) Spanish speaker, and I can see that the subtitles are only of moderate — the translation isn't good in context. To be clear, I've only been able to watch a few minutes of two shows, so take that with a grain of salt. Also, the Android app interface (when it was working) has issues with screen orientation, and often throws up an unnecessary "please turn your device" screen, obscuring important info. All in all, this app and this service aren't ready for the public yet, and this subscription model certainly shouldn't be allowed.

App starts up but crashes or freezes when I try to watch any shows(I am learning french) . I have all wifi bars and I even tried using my 4G network. I do understand right now it's a beta. It's a cool concept but the app is trash and doesn't work at all. Please fix this because it's a shame I signed up and was ready to pay but the app doesn't work.

So far so good. The previous comment about being unable to cancel subscription is not true. I just looked and was able to find it. As someone who reads French but does not speak it, I too would like the video to run a little slower. The subtitles are off in places (in the french version, at least), but it is still very good. I cannot wait for the other languages to become available.

LINGOPIE stole my money and now they're trying to hide it! I paid $59.99 for the yearly subscription on May 7th 2021, but every month after they kept charging the $9, so I reached out to them. After going back and forth with them, telling them I want to keep the year subscription, LINGOPIE changed my subscription to monthly but did not refund my $59.99. I have bank statements showing I paid and screenshots showing the yearly subscription on my account.

Really good idea, but in my opinion the execution isn't great. There isn't any guided learning. You watch a TV show, it shows the words, you flag what you don't know, then go back and review. IMO it isn't good for beginners. Might be better for those trying to improve their understanding of the language. I may come back to this app later, but IMO there are better apps for beginners. If the devs want to chat, I have some ideas on what could be improved. This has a lot of potential.

Wow, if you guys can get this app to function properly, as well as add a more mature viewing selection, you are going to be Stupidly RICH! $60/Year for the amount of possible value gained from this app is more than worth it. Unfortunately at the time of this post I can't even get the titles to play. The screen is just black. I look forward to coming back in a few months and hoping more has changed. Please don't give up. This is genius!

I started the Japanese course, it's new right now, so I expect some of the kinks to be ironed out. It feel very clunky though. It doesn't feel nice to click on the words because it doesn't always click the right one. You get flash cards based on the order you clicked, so if you don't go down the line each time, your cards are mixed around. They kind of shove the "buy our premium" on everything. Most of the stuff just feels clunky.

Great new app for language learning! I tried the free trial and really enjoyed it. I am ending my subscription for now due to being between jobs but can't wait to get back to it. It's like YT popular music streaming and Google Translate all in one app only better--click and get a real time translation and flash cards and pop quizzes. Change the speed of speech. Win rewards.

Do not use if you are new to Japanese. I'm serious--some of the translations are small errors, but others are a complete misinterpretation of the sentence. I'd almost recommend they remove Japanese as a language option entirely until they can have native speakers help review their content. The app is a great concept overall and I can't speak for the other language options, but their Japanese needs a lot of work.

Terrible, I though features were going to be better but they are Terrible. You are better off going on disney plus and changing the language to Japanese and putting English subtitles. What ended it for me is that you can't take off the auto pay after "free trial." I mean you can cancel your subscription but your free trial instantly ends. It's not a free try. It's a bait to make you forget to cancel.

I like the app overall, but I mean given that Spanish is the 2nd fastest language in the world I would like it if I could decrease the speed to much less than 75%. Or maybe just give me a show for babies. Something I can keep up with to start from. Maybe. Also, the new update seems to be causing the little buttons (home, book, and person) to cover the timer at the bottom, making knowing how much time is left, fast-forwarding, and rewinding very difficult.

This app is not for everyone. If your method of learning is by watching a TV series in a foreign language slowed down then go ahead and subscribe. For me this was difficult. This app is not great for begginers, more like intermediate and on. It has a poor way of navigating through the shows. And the sound quality is horrible because it's being slowed down so much. You can speed it up but then you might as well watch a TV series somewhere else.
