It's great way to create positive habit and widen vocabulary, but it could be better in many ways. It is not grammar focused whatsoever. If in language you're trying to learn words can be in many forms and modified with suffixes (as in Estonian) you may sometimes don't understand why words formed the way they are. Maybe Estonian is not really popular thus profitable and other languages have better functionality I don't know. There is certainly room for improvement and I hope they will.

Poor app. Cannot change language to study. Can only change interface language. Free lessons are almost not existing. The app functions poorly so I would never pay for something that has poor function. I will remove it. after the response from the app maker I stand by my first review. Paying for something that does not function well is not smart.

This is a really great application. I use it daily combined with by hand pan and paper rewriting of the texts. It's great to see the progress. I really start to feel the difference.

Please fix the exercise that is being constantly proposed to me every single day on the main screen because I cannot pass it - "ouais, laissez. moi réfléchir" just is NEVER recognized in the live situation "J'ai besoin d'un café". It's crazy that I cannot skip it and get some new ones. Please propose new exercises after failed tries or fix this one, is infuriating

Really enjoying the app so far, very nice to quickly hop in and out without having to start from scratch. It would really benefit from an offline mode as I find loading voice samples and exercises can be slow even on 5g with a high-end phone. That would earn 5 stars.

So far, I've been learning some words, but I'm still missing some functionalities, like grammar, listening to myself after repeating a phrase. The usability is great. Also, they don't notify when it gets the time to study.

I use Russian and there is a lot of issues with the lessons. I've "learned" by their metric nearly 200 words, but the words they teach can be confusing and the grammar is non-existent, which is obviously very important in Russian. For instance, we can learn 6 verbs of motion that all mean 2 things, or I can learn the 2 base verbs that are most common and learn the grammar around them so I can apply it and have > 6 uses in application per verb. They chose the first, sadly

Do not pay for this! Lingvist seems much better. I really regret getting the lifetime Speakly subscription. The app is buggy, unfinished, missing lots of word definitions; it doesn't even have a dark mode. I came back after 1.5 years to give it another chance and it fails. Not only will the app not tell you what the whole sentence means (only the "focus word"), it also doesn't allow you to copy it and paste it on Google translate. This is just pointlessly bad UX.

I've been using speakly for a few days now and I must say I'm very pleased. The app is absolutely amazing and well thought out. Not only does it expand your vocabulary but it teaches you grammer and many other topics. Not to mention the amazing subscription prices. I would absolutely recommend this app to anyone who's trying to learn a new language and doesn't know where to start. Speakly is a great primary, reliable source you can trust to learn a language from. Overall rating 9.5/10🙏❤️❤️

It's pretty good, but it's HORRIBLE for learning grammar. (at least for German). The explanations are too short and the examples are pretty poor. There doesn't seem to be any grammar-focused exercises either. Their argument that "it's not really necessary to learn a language well" is very unconvincing. Likewise, it's not good for you to memorize the gender of nouns. It'd be nice if at least they would color-code them for visual memorization.

Hmm quite boring and simple for my taste. Also, I don't think paying for a subscription is worth it in comparison to what Duolingo has to offer for free. Nothing here really stands or is much different other than the UI. I think there's better free options. It's also very sluggish which makes concentration difficult. Not much to be had on this app in my opinion.

App has been unusable.....I thought everything was fine after the bugs had been squashed. But now the interface won't even load anything.....or half load stuff. I hope there are more updates to fix this... unfortunately it seems this app has not updated since last year July and i find it quite concerning. It worked great when it actually worked.🥺

Quite the app. I have used Duolingo for Italian within the past year or so. While it's helped me gain basic knowledge, it's pretty boring after a while. I find this app to be enjoyable and worth it. The 7 day free trial is a no-strings-attached way to play around with the app without committing. You also get free music suggestions! I'm pleasantly surprised with how much I'm learning.

While I dislike the option to not have even a free version. I went ahead and paid for six months. I do feel it's worth it. I wasn't a beginner but an intermediate. According to the app intermediate 2, I agree with this assessment. This app is wonderful for learning vocabulary. I've really seen improvement. I don't regret purchasing at all. Best language learning app out there

Ends of words are not always heard, why are they cut off? Harder to understand. Also, repeatly get message that something went wrong on our end, please try again. Gets tiresome, tried reloading the app, did not help. The problem with something going wrong appears to have been corrected. Thank-you.

I am considering spending money on this app. It does a good job in its approach - sentence context focused, common things first, learning speaking, listening, reading, etc. However there is one thing that is really lacking: the review system. Its very simplistic as it is honor system flash cards. Very unlike the rest of the app, not interactive, not using any space repetition system, etc.

I'm digging it. A2/B1 here ( on paper any way ) . I really needed to form and speak sentences myself in a self paced app. This delivers if i look away from the hints when it's time to form and speak the phrase. Very useful phrases and vocab. I jumped in app at intermediate 1 and it's surprisingly great blend of verb tenses, idioms, old and new vocab. Finally feel like I'm getting somewhere with prepositions in real life applications.

Overall, I really enjoy Speakly approach on learning a language compared to others I have tried (i.e. Memrise & Duolingo) as well as investigated others. Speakly teaches relevant words (so they are commonly used). The "listening exercises" are amazing as you can read as well as hear, and if needed read in your original language. This is the best feature that I find very helpful, as I do these exercises every day! The "live situations" where you speak into the phone is a neat feature.
