The Speechling Method

With a foundation in our mission, the Speechling Method uses a combination of technology and human coaching to help our students learn new languages.

We place an emphasis on speaking, because of the lack of free and affordable tools for helping people speak. By breaking down spoken language barriers, we hope to increase access to education, employment opportunities, and a better quality of life.

Unlike other for-profit companies, our platform is entirely free - for eternity. We aim to be build the best platform to learn a language with spaced repetition and adaptive learning algorithms.

Personal Feedback

As a personal tutoring service, our certified pronunciation coaches give feedback on your speaking within 24 hours. Advanced students can answer a question or describe an image, and we will give feedback similar to what a private tutor will provide.

Unlike other for-profit companies, our coaching is also free - but because it has significant overhead costs, we charge just enough to cover our costs and for those who demonstrate that they cannot afford that price, we provide full scholarships.

Pretty good, some of the features like the learning to listen practice are very useful - although the half speed is laughably bad. My big issue is the UI/UX is poor.

Good exercise to improve your English skills as listening, filling gaps and learning new words. It's free and works without any limitations. Thanks a lot for your app, dear Developers.

Not a bad concept, but useless for my needs. Has only 2 Spanish options, Spain and "Latin American" as if all of Latin America is Mexico. So, useless for anyone who wants to learn any other accent/pronunciation. I am sure other languages have similar issues.

A very fine language learning app. Felt very comfortable with speechling. An excellent team which gives knowledge and different types of advice, suggestions and more. The members of speechling are very co-operative and helpful.

This is a unique app that assists in listening and speaking aspect of language learning. Most apps focus on reading and writing only. The free mode is generous and they're currently running a 20% discount promotion until the new year.

! THIEF ALERT! Right after the payment, the app started to crash down. I had to unistall and reinstall it again everyone to get it work for half an hour. The support email is totally unresponsive! I seriously warn you about this app!

This app is the BEST free language learning resource. The layout is bit confusing at first, but it's because it's a more complex and powerful tool than anything else out there. It also is letring me learn my third and fourth languages FROM my second language: I'm learning German and Japanese from French so I can brush up on my French too. Thank you so much for this app.

Great app for working on your pronunciation, and practicing your listening comprehension at the speed people actually talk. You also practice at the sentence-level, so you see and hear words in context. Very impressed this app is free, most apps at this level cost $10-$20 a month, at least.

Free app with 10 recordings. Anymore and require payment. Unable to engage in full conversations with natives so would suggest alternative apps if that is what you are looking for. Poor communication from company regarding conplaint. Website/app poorly displayed. Huge use of kanji without hiragana, which puts beginners at disadvantage. Use of alot of grammar with little explanation. No emails to confirm subscription payment or pending renewal so be mindful when signing up.

i was looking for a way to practice compréhension and pronunciation of french and speechling is the one that is truly helping. The classroom wasn't working for me anymore for circumstances out of my control. I do recommend it.

Sentence mining is a great method for language learning. But the app is too complex, so I find I'm not sure where to start and what all the functions are. I bet I'm not alone in feeling a little lost, so making it more straightforward would help a lot.

Giving me a word in English then saying the translated word for me is not how I learn a new language. Having sentences with blanks and multiple choice responses is not how I learn a new language. I need memorization. I need to put my vocabuary to the test. I need to engage my brain with proper sentence structure and context. Speeching got it right for once.

Update: I love this app and the feedback I receive. I use it just about every day, and just about every day it crashes. There is no contact information within the app, only a link to the Facebook community. Twice I have submitted posts for admin approval, and twice they have never been approved, nor have I received any reply. Is there anybody out there.....🛸👽???

This program is an excellent language tool and my teacher was exceptional. She was very patient but most importantly made me listen to the sounds of the Russian language in a very exact manner. She was only satisfied when I had indeed mastered the exercises. This is a program where progress and mastery go hand in hand.

Material and content is good and the app functions well. It takes the science behind learning and uses technology to support it. Awesome stuff. I'd love to be able to save the example phrases as personal flashcards as well.

I haven't opened the app, but, this sentence from your description won me over: "Unlike other for-profit companies, our platform is entirely free - for eternity." I don't know how you're making money, but thank you! Update: you're making money from the premium. I can't afford this, either. I know, you got to pay for the coaches so it's not a deal breaker and what you do give for free is pretty awesome. I sure wish the journal was free, though.

it's really good app. it helps you to remember the words you know and learn new ones, in my point of view I think it's one of the best app to improve speaking and listening skills. this judging based on a few hours of using but during those hours I didn't notice anything wrong with this app. as I said above it's really good app

This app was rated highly on a language app review site so I used it with duolingo and babbel and more. It was rightly praised for the speaking practice it gives with phrases to record and 10 free corrections with a tutor per month on unpaid version. It is unusual to offer the 1-2-1 recorded pronunciation feedback without any payment and allows you to experience the app before deciding if it is right for you. It is great with duo for the more theoretical side and I recommend having a go.
