A lot of identifications are inaccurate. Not sure if this is crowd sourced and the users submitting photos are just wrong about their submissions or if the AI is subpar. I know several IDs I've tried to find out a specific type of plant eg fern, oak, maple and the app returns a plant that isn't even close. update: pics were clear, properly framed, and taken in broad daylight. Your huge database is inaccurate. I've already uninstalled and moved on.

Just recently downloaded PlantSnap. I must be following the instructions correctly. Only used it 3 times and within a minute had results. Pictures matched exactly. It's possible there may be some errors in the future but really not many apps are perfect for sure. Love this one so far.

1 out of 5 pictures taken actually identified the plant. Annoying ads every time you had to retake a picture. Update to the developer response. I'm a professional photographer and know framing and focus. It not identifying the plant is only a quarter of the problem. If I'm on a walk I don't want to have to watch or see a 15- 30 second add every time your app gets it wrong. If you're attempting to build a database you should have a minimal amount of ads so users can actually use the app.

I have tried this app, while out walking trails. It will not take pictures. I have tried to read the instructions by clicking the button that says instructions. Does nothing! It seemed like a cool app from what I was reading, and I was going to do the lifetime membership thing, I mean 19.99 great deal, wanted to do it. But if the app does not take pictures, or tell you instructions, actually NONE of the buttons I clicked took me anywhere. I just stayed on the one page. I could see what the camera saw, align the plant, just not "snap" as they say! I am so unhappy.

Super inaccurate. I initially tried identifying plants I didn't know because I've been trying to figure out what I have on my new property. Something didn't seem quite right, so I tested it on my green basil, only for it to say it was valerian. My miniature rose it thought was something COMPLETELY different. Two, well-known, easily-identifyable plants, and it couldn't even get those right.

If I could give this zero stars, I would. I bought the year subscription thinking it would be a good idea but, I was wrong. The free version only gives a select amount of snaps for one day. Buying the subscription gives you a few more options but the identification of the plants needs a lot of work. There is no clear way to unsubscribe and delete your account. But I deleted it anyways. Then I was charged for the subscription and I complained to the app. They responded by charging me more.

Horrible I paid for the lifetime version and it does not work. I sent developer email and did everything they suggested and it still doesn't work. The free version worked but I was limited to just 5 photos a day. Now I can't get the free version to even work. I have requested my 29.99 back from the Google play store. I bet they deny the request.

An interesting toy. Limited uses without $, and I really can't see paying for something I'll use 2-3 times a year, max. A curiosity. I've had it for a long, long time, and I've used it twice, and one of those times took multiple attempts and didn't get great matching. I can do without it, the storage space is too valuable.

I've been using this app off and on for about a year. For the most part it seems to be recognizing my images, but there was a period when some of the images it suggested looked like my specimen but had different names, as if somebody had deliberately miss-named a picture. One suggested name for an image I scanned was Poison ivy, yet it didn't look anything like poison ivy. The app seemed to do much better this week.

Hit or miss After several months, it's really hit or miss with identification ~50% but I'm not counting. I've tested unknown and known with many snaps. Many time helpful most times not. Not 100% confident on the results returned. I spend a lot of time comparing and reading and giving up. But when it does it hit (and it does) the info is spot on and saving the snap with info is nice. I don't care for the social part get the id of plants right first. I like the map of other "snaps".

Very dissapointed. So many ads and buying options on the screen that very little plant ID info is visible. More a plant shopping app. Wasnt able to find a way to create a personal library of plants searched for reference, etc. Very limited pictures of plant to use as comparison or to see it in other stages. App has been useless to me. I work at a public garden and am constantly ask to identify plants. Maybe i'm using it wrong. But then it should be more intuitive. Switched back to Picture This.

This app has annoying notifications (system level notifications, not in-app notifications) to goad you into buying the premium version. I find that very annoying. I tried this program on a plant with flowers in a botanical garden (so I had a positive control) and it didn't work. I don't think this app can handle the California flora, which is very diverse.

I use this app fairly frequently and it has mostly served me well :) I don't think one will ever get a perfect answer all the time, but some times it is way off the mark. The app makes up for these errors in ID by being more robust than just something that will tell you the name of the plant. I do like that it gives a range of possible matches and that it includes info on how to grow the plant and even where to buy it. If only the photo galleries were as well curated as the rest it would be a 5.

love it, helped me find several new favorites and learn. a few complaints over the camera controls. Rarely is the plant still and with good lighting, without camera controls it makes it hard to get a good photo . good enough to identify sometimes but as it saves the photos, id like beautiful shots. I wish there was a historical tree marker on the map ie: Montello Cottonwood . or ability to seek out plants and hunt them like a adventur quest. fyi I'm also using the free version.

On June13, 2020, I got a $14.99 subscription to your app, but after using it a few days, I found it didn't work as well as expected. Auto-capture rarely worked & suggestions provided were inaccurate in all but 2 instances. Therefore, I'm uninstalling now and sent you an email requesting a refund. Please let me know if you need any more info to expedite the processing of my refund. I think your app has a lot of potential. Good luck with your future updates! 🙂

Great idea, but it failed in 4 of 4 identifications. I followed the instructions impeccably. When it missed on a purple oxalis, I tried it on a more common post oak, a beautyberry, and something else easy. It showed answers that didn't look at all like what I snapped. I'll try again someday when the database is fuller and algorithms are improved.

It's been a couple of years since I have used Plantsnap. I started using the app again. Not very happy with the experience lately. The plants I have taken pictures of have not identified correctly. I used to be able to save the photo for future reference on this app, now not at all. I've even considered deleting this app and searching for another plant app. I'm hoping Plantsnap can fix/tweek some issues on the app. I really liked it before and really don't want to change.

I downloaded the app this morning and have taken a number of photos of plants and the program seems to be searching but never reports any findings. I finally to a pic of a rose bush thinking it could easily identify it but the same thing all process no results. It appears to be a waste of time for me. I was very close to purchasing the upgrade but worried it would be the same just without all of the ads. Very disappointed.
