Description of phyphox

Did you know that you are carrying a 3D magnetometer? That you can use your phone as a pendulum to measure earth's local gravitational acceleration? That you can turn your phone into a sonar?

phyphox gives you access to the sensors of your phone either directly or through ready-to-play experiments which analyze your data and let you export raw data along with the results for further analysis. You can even define your own experiments on phyphox.org and share them with colleagues, students and friends.

Selected Features:
- A selection of pre-defined experiments. Just press play to start.
- Export your data to a range of widely used formats
- Remote-control your experiment through a web interface from any PC on the same network as your phone. No need to install anything on those PCs - all you need is a modern web browser.
- Define your own experiments by selecting sensor inputs, defining analysis steps and creating views as an interface using our web-editor (http://phyphox.org/editor). The analysis can consists of just adding two values or using advanced methods like Fourier transforms and crosscorrelation. We offer a whole toolbox of analysis functions.

Explanation for the permissions requested

If you have Android 6.0 or newer, some permissions will only be asked for when needed.

Internet: This grants phyphox network access, which is required to load experiments from online resources or when using the remote access. Both are only done when requested by the user and no other data is transmitted.
Bluetooth: Used to access external sensors.
Read external storage: This is may be necessary when opening an experiment stored on the device.
Record audio: Required to use the microphone in experiments.
Location: Used to access GPS for location-based experiments.
Camera: Used to scan QR codes for external experiment configurations.

The best application I can imagine. It can be used to diagnose your phone too, to find if any sensor is busted... also you can find any live wires in the walls before put any nails through. Or play cool experiments with your kids. The limit is your imagination.

How come it shows "Acceleration with g" and not "Acceleration without g" in the "raw sensors" section? Very weird. It tells me I don't have the sensor for it which is wrong, I do but the app is not recognizing that fact. Developers, help us with this.

Add wakelock support. I want to record for an hour and not drain the battery with screen on. Right now it stopa recording when putting to sleep. Also real clock time is missing from csv exports.

Oh this is better than any game, using your phone for fun/interesting/eduational experiments Mind to keep the lid on the silly/stupid. eg. acceleration testing yr phone into concrete will probably destroy yr phone (as well as not giving a test result). There's good explanations for the uninitiated. The looks you'll get during your commute to work, priceless. Uninstall your Minecruft, Phyphox is here to activate your brain. Unleash your curiosity. Totally amesome! n.b. Phyphox is no toy.

It's a very useful and interesting tool. One of its advantages is ability to save data in Excel format, then you can do post processing on data easily!

This is just a worse version of physics toolbox sensor suite and this app cannot access sensor that my phone has saying my phone does not posess them. I can access them with physics sensor suite.

OMG I'm like a kid in a candy shop! Was only expecting some nifty eye candy representation of data.. Not a full blown toolset of epic little goodies. Echo location is bloody brilliant, reliable on my XZP upto about 30 meters. Do love the audio filters and tools you've added, Doppler and Correlation have come in useful. Thanks Dev, keep it up!

Excellent app. I find the sensors very useful for simple experiments. Not lab equipment but you get the general idea with very good results. Love the export capability.

I used accoustic meter to calculate the speed by using the ∆t between 2 smartphones. But the result is so far from the reality. I make 20 experiment, and the result is from 200m/s to 580m/ s. I used the formula v= 2d/ ∆t. It is a horrible apps. The apps is very inaccurate. Sorry

leaving pop-ups - a bit annoying

Great but for some reason it won't show my phone's temperature, I have checked via another app that my phone does have not 1 but 2 thermometers in it, one on the battery and one on the cpu. Maybe the fact that there are 2 is confusing it?

Pretty awesome. I would recommend adding some unit conversion though, like I was trying to look at the pressure in ATM but it only gave it in hPa so I had to throw it in my calculator to convert it. Seems like something that would be easy enough to program in.

Works amazingly well, so many options, so many features, with a very clear and understandable UI. It is simply amazing the amount of access to the different sensors on your phone this allows.
