Description of ADW Launcher 2

You may think the original and best launcher of all time has not been updated, because people assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it’s more like we released this update 3 years ago and you didn’t realize. Don’t worry, we understand not everyone has…1.21 gigawatts!! to spend.

Having said this, we’ve been reading a lot about Google recommendations on abusing app options and settings, and we’ve talked a lot about it. But as the ability to speak does not make us intelligent we’ve made all the opposite. You know, without freedom of choice there is no creativity. The Launcher bores.
You may also think “I find your excess of settings disturbing” and we don’t blame you! It’s a totally normal reaction. I guess you guys aren’t ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it. In the end, the possibility of configuring it to your likeness is approximately 3720 to 1, what makes it the best launcher because maths never lie.

And yeah, we have screens, ¿and icons? for sure, ahh and we have widgets too, what more?, I mean what else?, in fact, you can make your own. And if you prefer getting everything pre-made, use themes! Or widget and template packs! ¿Is your device’s desktop boring? Change it again Sam. Your style, your rules, Do. Or do not, there’s a setting for it, tweak it, change it, shaken, not stirred.

And remember, “There’s no such thing as ‘the unknown,’ only options inside ADW Settings”

*Endless Features*

Most of the application have been reprogrammed and redesigned from scratch. Also we have added a lot of new features. Here are some of them:

* Support for Android 7.1 launcher shortcuts (limited support on older versions down to 5.x)
* Added new icons effects section. You can choose image filters and compositions. Awesome!!!
* Dynamic UI coloring using wallpaper colors.
* New way to manage screens. Hold down an empty area of the desktop.
* New way to add widgets and shortcuts.
* New way to change the wallpaper, lock/unlock the desktop or access settings. Hold down an empty area of the desktop and choose the option.
* Added fast scroll app drawer style.
* Added indexed fast scroll app drawer style.
* Added some desktop transitions.
* Added new section to configure icon badges.
* Added a visual mode to configure desktop, icon appearance, folder appearance, and app drawer options.
* Added option to change the top panel/widget.
* Added option to change the content type of bottom panel (dock/widget).
* Added new wrap folder mode to folders. This mode lets you launch the first app in the folder on tap, and show the folder contents on swipe up.
* Added new fast application search in app drawer.
* Improved app categories in app drawer.
* Improved way to manage user gestures.
* Improved way to apply internal and external themes.
* Improved context menu for all desktop objects.
* Added new Custom Widget object. You can add new custom widgets from widget list, import them from friends and other developers, create, edit and share your own.
* Added some initial extensions for the custom widgets (time/battery)
* Check out ADWExtensions pack for more extensions (weather, gmail, etc).
* Added template manager. Remove, add and share templates easily.
* Improved icon properties dialog.
* Improved folder properties dialog.
* Added backup manager in advanced settings/system. Now you can import data from other famous launchers (if you miss one, report back to us so we can include it!)
* Added the possibility to set a secondary action on desktop shortcuts. Swipe up over the desktop shortcut to execute the secondary action.
* Probably 2 or 200 things I’m forgetting…
* A bunch of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff inside!

easy to use, perfectly configurable. but the latest update had got issues. trying to scroll in the app drawer is impossible at times. very annoying. if they fix it, I'll be right back to this launcher

Still working for me on Android 12, been using it since the dawn of Android and never found anything that comes close. I dread the day it stops working as it's not been updated for a long time. Fingers crossed it's brought back to life or passed into someone who can update it.

Downloaded it and paid after adw launcher started to mess around. Waste of time... And money. Can't get the full screen, can't get rid of the black background under notification panel and status bar. I got the phone with big screen to enjoy its size, not to cut it off with huge black lines. Totally disappointed 😥

Love it, all the features it has are great. My only complaint is that when I go to the apps list, it has to take 10ish seconds to load all my apps. This happens whenever I go to the home screen

I remember using this launcher way back when on my first Android phone in 2012 or so. Then it was just ADW launcher, the themes were great and the application worked smoothly. I do not know if this launcher receives any support, but with the LG G8 on Android 10 this launcher does not work correctly. No matter the theme that you choose the launcher has a weird green screen of death. Fix this issue and I will download and try again. Looks like this hasn't been updated since almost two years though

[[ #2020 seems abandoned again :-( ]] Really a joy returning to this "classic" i remembered from my Ice Cream Sandwich Droid2. Fast forward to an Oreo world and a device with 4x RAM, 4x Cores, etc. and Surprise! ADW2 has certainly kept pace. I am genuinely shocked that it doesn't get more attention. it is in the same class as N•••, Sm•••, Ac••••, and it's flexible enough to create a variety of interface paradigms (multi dock, scrolling screens, edge sliding cards, etc.). really great work.

Great launcher for my taste. I love having lots of options and this has plenty. If I had any gripes, I would ask that app icons could be placed anywhere on the screen instead of only in certain spaces on rows. Maybe the developer could change that for us in the next version? 😊

I purchased ADW Launcher 2 Pro, and there are so many things it won't do, it is very disappointing. The gestures won't work, can't turn the screen off, I also downloaded the ADW Notifier 2, and that won't stay open at all, ut just closes as soon as it it open. I was looking for a good launcher, but I don't think this is it.

The experience I have had with this launcher isn't the best. In nearly one week... I had my screen locked. I was stuck at the apps charging slow... I mean, even having paid for something better I receive trash? I want my money back. Your launcher is a fail. Even others in early edition, are better than this. I wanted to let you know. I wait for the refund. That's the fair thing. Don't like it and don't need it anymore. I wouldn't pay a penny for this app. Sorry but it's the truth. Android 6.0

Inferior design to ADW Launcher 1 EX. No "swipe up from dock" or pinch-out gestures, no Sense style preview. I like the classic menu style, this one is too fragmented, and the theme ADW 1 theme I use breaks a bunch of visual elements with this launcher. Would like to use ADW1EX but they broke it a couple years ago and haven't updated it since, also has some minor rendering issues on Android 5.0+.

Every morning after unplugging my phone from charger the screen of launcher remain empty, no apps and no widgets are displayed. There is nothing you can do other than restart your device to get it back to normal. Having this issue for 2 days already. Very frustrated. Haven't done any changes in phone or app settings recently. Please advise.

You promote this launcher as "Customizable" ??? Really? Won't allow 3rd-party widgets from MULTIPLE different developers... you know, little apps like ZOOPER for instance, amongst others. ADW was the first launcher I ever installed on my first Android. But get with the program... it ain't 2010. And since it's a launcher, which takes at least 45 minutes to setup, by the time I uninstalled it, it was too late apparently to get my refund. Thanks for a waste of time and a waste of money.

Close to a great launcher. It may have been abandoned by the developer. Couple issues including very buggy folders, which forgets your settings sometimes. Folders implemented a bit awkwardly with an extra button that can break things. Customer support non existent

I really love this launcher. My biggest issue and reason for not giving four stars is the lack of ability to add web page shortcuts to the home screen. Clicking "Add to home screen" in the Chrome menu does nothing even if there is space available on the home screen.

Been using for years, love it obviously. Performance is okay. Have to note that with the latest Android update, some features have broken. Can no longer move icons around or add them which is insanely inconvenient and needs to be fixed ASAP.

Idc if it hasn't been updated in over 4 years because it's still one of the top launchers available for my Galaxy. Some issues arise here and there like ADW Notifier not working but it's so customizable with many different aesthetic and interface actions options that I haventbseen anywhere else nevermind in one place. I was a Nova lifer until I just got bored with the typical stuff update after update while also frustrated when they took Away options I liked too. I've tried 25+. ADW IS Top 3

I used to use this as my default launcher on my galaxy S8. I've upgraded to the S10 and once it's set as the default launcher it changes how much of the screen gets used for the launcher. It shrinks to the size if one handed more, but stays in the center of the screen. Looks horrible now. Unusable

I've tried many, many launchers, and I always return to ADW. I've been using ADW since version 1. My only long running gripe with ADW Launcher 2 is that the alphabetical sort for icon folders was lost when transitioning to v2, it actually existed in v1. Please add this simple feature! I am a web developer and I would add it myself, but you can't access other devs apk source. Please update, it's been over a year since the last update. Thank you!
