Unable to watch anything... Crashing a lot

Dear TED, i'd like to do 2 feature requests hereby for a like button in your player. 1. Please make your app open-source and available on F-Droid! Really fits well with your goals as an organization. 2. it is possible to like videos in the screen that you get when you look them up or select them from Discovery, but there is not a like button in the player itself. THis is problematic as a user, because often I play lists, or just let the player run to the next video. That is when you discover interesting new talks that you might want to like. But at that moment, it is not possible to like them, because there is not a like button in the player! The only workaround is to then do a search for the title of that video, find it, and then like it. But that is way too cumbersome to be practical. alright, hope this helps in improving your app,

Sometimes it takes so long to play a video. But good app overall.

Well there is no doubt that the content is great. It opens the world of opportunities to us. App is good and has a user friendly UI. There are two issues I faced: First one is offline viewing is bad. It seems that downloaded content get corrupted. Downloaded content fails to play in midway. The other issue is ofcourse a slightly high data consumption (in comparison to streaming platforms like Amazon).

The Ted content is amazing, videos are short but educational. A very useful way to fill up little slots of your time to improve on your knowledge. Very enlightening content. However, the downloading takes a long time and sometimes the videos dont load offline after downloading, and the app itself is quite laggy, makes it a bit disappointing. Overall would still recommend.

Great content, but an educational app with a videoplayer that doesn't have any playback speed feature is an extremely huge bummer. I'm pretty sure they used to have one, but I'm 100% sure that the lack of this feature makes me avoid this mobile app like the plague. EDIT: Thanks for the alternative! I'll definitely try to use the mobile website.

A few years ago I fed back to the app developers about the awful autoplay feature on this Android app, meaning I can't just listen to a talk with the phone put down and then go to sleep at the end of the day. In the end I stopped using the app. Just tried the latest version on my new Android phone, no change, so it just keeps going at the end of a talk. Autoplay is an awful feature on this app and it would be so easy to add an option to turn it off, until then I won't be using it again.

The new version is a massive step backwards. Scrolling through My List is almost impossible. Videos I've removed from the list appear back again next time I open the app. The ability to change the playback speed has been removed. As has the ability to cast to another device. Looks good though 😔

The TED is one of the best platform to learn interesting stuffs. I always enjoy watching things which normal people do not do. But to watch these videos we need speed. Please give the feature for increasing the video speed. It is really necessary. Also the videos watched on the websites and on the android app are not synchronising. I hope you will consider the same.

Lately the app has been stopping my videos a few minutes after I lock my screen, very annoying if you're doing something with gloves and need to press play every few minutes. It doesn't have a "play next" or "add to queue" option which would've been nice but anyhoo. I love the talks so much, just the app that's a bit difficult to deal with.

Now don't get me wrong: I'm a HUGE fan of TED Talks, but the current version of the (Android) App (7.0.17) is unacceptably flakey. It freezes after just a couple of screen touches and watching anything must be done on a different device or through the website, which makes the app merely an inconvenience and waste of space! I sincerely hope the stability is resolved VERY soon to reflect the quality of the "brand".

What is going on with Ted? It is too hard to watch a video. Absolutely slow, I spend nearly 30 minutes to watch 16 minutes video, unfortunately I can't end it. Please fix this problem

Apparently, it doesn't work on background even when the config shows otherwise. When there is a change of network (eg. wi-fi to mobile data), it seems to crash and go back to the beginning, as if it had just been opened. Then, if I don't have the title of what I'm watching, I'll have to forget about that video. What's more, most of the time I start any video, it starts at, say, 3, 5, 7, 10, etc minutes along the video timeline, making me pull it to the beginning. TED on YouTube doesn't crash.

The app is not functioning properly from last few weeks. New videos won't just show up on the "Browse" tab while they are available on website

I could get over the re-design of the app (although in my opinion, it's very much taken a turn for the worse) however, I cannot find Chromecast support anywhere in the app. Searching the internet for answers and there appears to be no solution other than referencing former versions of the app which had it. Casting the screen and then playing the video works, but it comes through at fairly low resolution and a bit jerky. A real shame.

Limited content and not compatible with Chromecast. I used to spend so much time on this app, finding great talks and casting them to the TV. Now there is no longer an option to cast and there is less on there than the website it seems. However it is better than the android TV app, that doesn't even have an option to log in to access your saved videos, never mind even half of what I want to watch, that is very poor.

I really like TED, it's speakers and contents. Very informative and life changing at times, but giving a 1-star rating because my experience with the app is horrendous. It straight up freezes after playing a video for a few seconds. The video will play all the way though, it's just you can tap more back or forth and it becomes unresponsive to any touch. Does not register anything. Have to shut the app down and restart to watch a video. Have to repeat this for every video. It gets annoying.

I used this app daily and I have been enjoying thoroughly. Unfortunately, the last big update brought up a couple changes that made my user experience worse. In particular, you can no longer change the speed of the video, and that was a really useful feature for me. I hope it comes back in a future update. UPDATE: it's impossible to remove talks from "My List". I removed a few, both watched and unwatched, but when I opened the app again they were there again. Tried a few times, same result.
