Description of Heavens-Above

When can I see the ISS? What's that light in the sky? The official Heavens-Above app provides you with precise pass predictions for the ISS, visible satellites and radio satellites. Main features include:

Live sky chart
See what's in the sky above you right now or at a given moment.

Pass predictions
Get precise predictions for passes of the International Space Station (ISS) and most visible satellites.

Radio satellites
Get passes for amateur radio satellites, complete with uplink and downlink information.

Comets
Find the location of bright comets, including NEOWISE, in the sky.

All calculations performed locally
Predictions are generated right on your phone so you only need a data connection every few days.

Orbit and ground track
See details about the orbit of any selected satellite rendered and with all relevant data.

Satellite details
Get detailed information about any satellite, as provided by our Heavens-Above website.

Timeline
Get a visual overview over passes and animate the position of satellites on the sky chart and on the ground track.

Night mode
An optional red on black color scheme to preserve your night vision.

Tracker
Easily find or identify any object in the sky by orienting your device towards it.

Calendar Integration
Quickly add interesting passes to your calendar so you won't miss them.

Financed by adverts
This version integrates advertisements to make it available for free. Get Heavens-Above Pro to remove the adverts.

seems to only show satellites etc and planets, not comets and other more interesting (because rarer) bodies. UI ok, but slightly confusing as it seems to have issues with the tilt of the mobile.

I LOVE this app. Yes it could have a few more features and whatnot, but it works great when the gps is calibrated. Just point at the sky and show off to your friends!

I'm eating this way due to my? Inability to understand the use of this app. I did as instructed, and was looking at something particular, however I was repeatedly told what I was viewing was, a planet, or another planet, no satellite were overhead..trying to get what I was looking at with my eyes was not possible. There were so many options I did not know what to try. In the end I couldn't find any info on what I was seeing and uninstalled.

I use this app quite frequently. Only thing that irks me is that I can't download fresh data when I'm hooked up to my VPN. So it sees me outside the US and won't grab the fresh data. Is it worth a full star deduction? No, not really. But I can't do half stars on the rating system.

great app. future improvement should include a sky view like sky maps has and is easier to use than HA sky view. also please add operating mode for radio satellites. i know its a bit beyond the scope of this app but it would be great to use usb or bt to auto tune a transceiver :)

Pretty good because it's a difficult task. I haven't seen the satellites much in the city for about two years yes as identified moon Venus Mars great and sky charters pretty good the the map is a bit backwards often because I would rather have the sky view run in the reverse you know in the in the proper

Great app! 2 improvements I can think of: 1: Make it possible to "time travel" to see what the sky will look like in a few hours, 2: Make a UI to show when a certain non-sattelite object will rise/set/reach highest point in the sky.

Absolutely love it. Seen lots of satellites and rockets already and the International Space Station which is awesome. Pinpoints exact locations of what your looking at. Try it out very interesting. Great app :)

Got it just in time to find ISS flyover soon, and it was there on time, bright and fast ;) What's lacking a bit is a way to pinch and rotate the sky map to align the rectangle of the screen better with our cone of the sky seen in the city, and some use of the camera to find the bright stars and frame on the map the bit of sky we can actually see.

I have been using Heavens Above for decades now. It has proven to be a most useful tool for astronomical viewing in conjunction with my 70s vintage C-8. Since I don't have the luxury of Go-To apps, it works very well for me in guiding to my viewing objects.

The idea of app is just great, but UI can be far better. Tracking view should automatically lock the screen orientation to portrait and it would be great if user can rotate the view manually (or app can do it automatically).

Fantastic app for when we are camping out bush and away from the night light associated with urban settlement. Love being able to identify what the stars etc are in the night sky. Absolutely brilliant app.

I learned elementary astro navigation in the RAF 1952 and took sextant shots now and then for the navigator in Shackletons and Vulcans over 27 years. Learning to identify the constellations and make sure you were shooting the correct star would have been a lot easier with your splendid app! Now it gives me endless pleasure reliving so doing and winning bombing competitions! May I suggest being able to select just the heavenly bodies without all the man-made stuff?

Updated: Don't think there's going to be a need in the near future to keep the Iridium flares tab. They're almost gone :( Some flares are still visible but observations for any given location are now rare (about twice a month in Lisbon). But worth watching while they're not replaced. Thanks for the reply, guys.

False notifications for ISS and Starlink. When I tap on them, the chart loads with the orbit and immediately disappears and no passes can be found in the list. No real notifications either. I can see the ISS passing, yet no alerts are shown before or during the pass.

Excellent and user-friendly app. The calibration was very useful and the map was extremely helpful. The features included made it dramatically easier to find asterisms and celestial objects. Would recommend.

Ads are too intrusive. The ads are too prominent on the screen compared to other similar apps. Not worth paying for the pro version just to get rid of them without any additional features. Uninstalled.

This is one of the best apps for viewing things that are flying in the earth's orbit. The path/trajectory and the flight data that the app shows is always very accurate. I have spotted many starlink satellites, Hubble telescope and the ISS with the help of this app.
