Switched because MFP started limiting the barcode feature to premium. It's decent. UX not quite as clean. Most frustrating part is when I search for a food, it might bring up two foods I have previously entered. But bulk of the list is completely random and no logic or reason at all. I wouldn't switch to premium until that was cleaner. Syncs with Samsung health pretty well.

Lifesum free is adequate for tracking calories, carbs, fats, and protein, but it's difficult to enter an original recipe, so I end up having to enter multiple ingredients each time I cook. Probably much easier if you eat a lot of processed and labeled foods. Also, the calorie counts on certain products are just wrong, and I have to go online and look up those calories, then adjust my data in Lifesum to make it list the correct calories. The premium version may be better, but I have no idea.

I want to like this app more than I do. I paid for the premium because this app seemed like a better version on all calorie counters but with personalized meal plans (which is awesome). The platform is great. The reason I gave this app a chance was they offered meal choices. Something I could easily make to stay on track to weightloss. The meals are anything but easy to make. They look great but if you don't own half of the spice and veggie aisles at the supermarket you can't make the food.

Search can take a long time. The label reader is great, making it very easy to add foods. Very basic stats unless you pay for an upgrade. Update: dropped from three stars to one as there is a bait and switch on even the basic stats such as average calorie consumption over time. This that was visible for the first 27 days of the app usage and then blurred out and forced to pay for subscription cost just to see that stat.

First the pros: great user interface (easy fast and intuitive to accomplish typical tasks). Good for basic macronutrient and calorie tracking. I find the notifications useful. Now the cons which are bugs: numerous "verified by Lifesum" foods have incorrect data. Unclear what happens when you report it. When you attempt to add info on an item, it changes the portion size and prevents you from saving with a prompt about "the calories look wrong" even if you didn't modify the calories value. There's no way to easily copy an item so you can fix it on your own, and manually entering everything in a new item just to fix one nutrient value is unreasonable. Cons which may be personal opinion: there is no way to select a diet or targets that are based on specific nutrients (like low carb and low potassium) so you have to basically just leave the standard diet and keep checking the day totals.

Great interface, but light on features. Half of the app deals with "meal plans" and "recipes" which I don't find useful. The nutrition/exercise tracking has a slick interface, but data portability is an issue -- doubly so since the views of your data in-app are lackluster (and logging into Lifesum's website shows you no data, just your subscription status). Google Fit integration is free and nice, but only allows some data to sync, and each one only one way. Overall, a good app, but not much better than similar trackers, and definitely not enough to justify the subscription cost. Unfortunately, my data is stuck in their system and can't be exported, so I continue to use it.

It seems like the food tracker isn't always accurate. Yesterday, coffee was something like 100 cals/cup, today its 0 cals/cup. Overall, I like the app. There are just a few UI issues and that food tracker issue. My favorite function is its ability to enter which recipes I want to use for meals and snacks throughout the week, then it generates a grocery list with all the exact amounts of each ingredient I'll need for the entire week. This app saves a lot of time there.

Good app, but limited features. You can only sync data from google fit, nokia health, runkeeper, fitbit, endomondo or walgreens and thats only if you pay for the subscription. They say the 12 mo subscription is 3.99/mo, but they charge you up front for all 12 months. Creating meals can be difficult and frustrating at times especially with multiple ingredients. You can only create two meals on the free account. When scanning the barcode of a food item, the app makes a loud beep as it registers the barcode which can be annoying since there is no way to turn the sound off. Even when the phone is muted, the sound is still played. For an app i'm paying for, its a good start, but it could be better.

Great "free" software but it ends up being a bait and switch. It will allow you to keep your calories but anything and everything (nutritional plan, etc) else required a monthly subscription. Also there are some areas that need work, specifically in the questionnaires. Found myself loking for options that weren't available. The exercise and food menu for your calorie count is good but needs work as well.

Overall, the app has been great for me and the latest update brought a host of improvements. Keep up the good work! However, in the previous version, the "recent food" list was specific to the meal, so the recent list within breakfast showed recent breakfast items; within lunch, it showed recent lunch items, and so on. Now there's no meal specificity, and even the definition of recent seems hit or miss. Would love to see this feature improved. Thanks

The app has an excellent design and is the most visually appealing app I've tried. It is easy to set up and get calorie and macronutrients goals. However, the serving sizes, calorie counts, and macronutrients for many of the foods are incorrect and many foods have multiple entries (all different). For someone who isn't used to tracking these things and verifying without an app, the app would be near impossible to use effectively.
A Google user
The calorie counts on certain foods are inaccurate, I'm guessing they're user submitted. I scanned a barcode and had the right product pop up with wrong info. The water feature is annoying, you can only increase it by specific intervals. I drank a 20oz bottle of water, but it was impossible to enter that info. Some good ideas, but it needs work.

App is okay. Very frustrating at times. If i use 2 devices to input my food in, it doesn't always sync. Sometimes it takes a while, sometimes I just doesnt do it until I force close and reopen them on both devices. Looking up food to track is similarly temperamental. Sometimes it takes a while to load. Creating a meal is not very intuitive. Overall the appa works but could be so much better with a redesign and some common sense. I am a premium user.

I've tried out all the top calorie trackers and I like Lifesum the best. Mostly because I actually enjoy using it. It gives you feedback and I feel less like I'm just entering data into a spreadsheet. I found out that one brand of frozen peas has sodium in it while the other doesn't, that was neat to learn! Main downside is that despite linking with fitbit, it cannot export calorie information to fitbit, which is a big downside for me.

Useful. I have the premium and it's not totally worth it. The recipes look fun and tasty. They tell you the nutrition facts for a serving but not what constitute a serving. So that is very annoying. I like the water tracker and that it links to my fitness tracker. It counts the calories I burned and it allows me to eat a bit more. I also like the encouragement.

Easy to use and a great resource of information. Update: For the past couple months there has been a glitch with adding water. It would delete the amount of water I add immediately, and after I re-add the water amount and close the app it would add the exact amount it deleted previously. So whenever I open the app the amount of water would multiply! Weird! UPDATE: The issue I wrote above about 8 months ago has still not been resolved. Also the new UI is terrible!!!!

I'm really loving the recipe ideas with each diet plan, I love that it gives you a shopping list of what to buy to make these meals work and the meals have been delicious! I give four stars because I've noticed that it wants you to fallow in order the meals it shows for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I like to mix it up and it's not an option and it won't mark the day complete unless the meals it picks for you are marked eating. I can note that I've eaten something different but thats it.
A Google user
I would not recommend this app because it is broken at the most fundamental level. The functions of the app, such as food and workout tracking, and choosing the right diet are fully 5 star. I LOVE how it will let you scan a barcode and the nutrition is input into your diary. However, I HATE that the calorie counts are pretty much all wrong. Search for grapes and you'll get all different calorie counts. I have to Google everything to know how much to input. There needs to be some overseer to ensure better accuracy.
