Description of Microsoft Launcher

Microsoft Launcher provides a new home screen experience that empowers you to be more productive on your Android device. Microsoft Launcher is highly customizable, allowing you to organize everything on your phone. Your personalized feed makes it easy to view your calendar, to do lists, and more. Sticky Notes on the go. When you set up Microsoft Launcher as your new home screen, you can either start fresh with your favorite apps or import your current home screen layout. Need to switch back to your previous home screen? You can do that, too!

This version of Microsoft Launcher has been rebuilt on a new codebase to make new features possible, including dark mode, and personalized news.

Dark theme:

Backup and Restore:
· Easily move between your phones or try Home Screen setups through Microsoft Launcher’s Backup and Restore feature. Backups can be stored locally or saved to the cloud for easy transfers.

Gestures:
· Swipe, pinch, double tap, and more on the home screen to easily navigate on the Microsoft Launcher surface.
This app uses Accessibility Service Permission for optional gesture of screen lock and recent apps view.

Downloading Microsoft Launcher gives the option to replace the default launcher or to toggle between device launchers. Microsoft Launcher does not replicate the user’s PC home screen on the Android phone. Users must still purchase and/or download any new apps from Google Play. Requires Android 7.0+.

After the recent update to Android 14 on my pixel 6a, I have frequently been running into an issue where the it will not recognize touch inputs on the home screens, only the home button. It would sometimes resolve after I restarted the phone, but then comes back within minutes. I've switched launchers back and forth, it only happens with this one. I had to uninstall through settings since this makes the phone unuseable . If this is fixed, I will gladly revert to 5 star review.

Great launcher! They just moved the search bar to the bottom of the screen, which makes my life a ton easier. It's closer to my thumb and it one of the most used parts of my phone. Other than that, it offers a ton of customizability beyond the Google launcher and integrates some nice features like a calendar and to do feed, news feeds, and timeline when you swipe right.

Almost perfect. I think that the app drawer background color needs to be customizable. For me, I use an entirely monochromatic setup and the gray app drawer really messes with that. I would like it to be black like before. Additionally, the option to remove even more features like the search bar would be great. I use my phone for very few things and love to keep it as uncluttered as possible. Thanks for making a great launcher!

I really wanted to like this app. I like the way it looks, and the general way it controls. But there's two deal breakers for me: anytime I try to tap an icon at the bottom of the page, it acts like I'm swiping up to open the control. for instance, when I tap my messaging app, it brings up the control panel as if I swiped. Not all the time, but at least 75%. Which means it's just way too sensitive. The other is even worse, and that's the fact I no longer get text notifications!

I love this! I had mediocre Samsung launcher, and this is a major upgrade. Vertical app drawer, various gestures, etc. However, I keep getting "Grant accessibility permission" pop ups when I use a gesture. I've done it many times, and still, every now and then, I have to turn off accessibility and give it back permission for the gestures to work again. Quite annoying, but it's otherwise a solid app, so I'm keeping it.

The new update is pretty good, but can have some improvements. For example, the 'slide up button on the home screen is now really small with less apps to choose from. Also, it was convenient having my flashlight app (on/off) on that screen. Now I have to drag the top all the way down in order to find the flashlight. If they can fix it to where the flashlight was at the slide up home screen again I'd give it 5 stars again. Thank you !

I enjoy using this launcher, but I'm having issues with it. Any time I go to my home screen, the keyboard pops open. I have to close the keyboard before I can do anything, which is frustrating. This has been happening since the update before the last one. Then when I tried to send an email to find a solution, it kept getting bounced because I'm not in their Network. Why even put the email on the app page for users to contact if you won't accept their emails?

100% better than Samsungs UI. I can't stand when all apps are on the home screen, and arranged by install date. Then the text is the same color as background. With this launcher, it's the normal Android style with the app drawer. You can have your most used apps on the home screen and the rest are alphabetically organized, with a dark background allowing for easy reading and finding of apps. This should be an option on all Android phones out of the box.

I started using this launcher accidentally. I just wanted to check it out and ended up keeping it. I think the app dock is what really won me over. However this doesn't come without some annoyances. First, the app dock doesn't appear to separate swiping from tap/press so I frequently open what's under my thumb when swiping it up. Second, the app drawer doesn't return to the top of the app list when it's dismissed and reopened, rather it returns where you left off. That last one is likely intentional, I just got use to a different behavior. That first problem, though, really feels like a defect.

This app is a must have for me. I've owned Windows phones, iPhones and various Androids, and this is one of the first apps I look for to install, if available. I love the way it performs. I love having the ability and option to change the shape of the icons, to add widgets and arrange my screens the way I want. As someone else mentioned, I wish they could somehow develop and incorporate the live tiles into this, so that feature could be used on Non-Windows phones, as well. That would be awesome!

I used to be a huge fan of this app. However, the last update has ruined the experience. The app takes 5-10 seconds to show content on the screen when opening the phone. This is highly inconvenient — I've missed phone calls because the app doesn't open in time. I can appreciate that change is necessary with phone applications, but this last update caused my phone to become very buggy. Fingers crossed Microsoft will fix this with new updates. If not, I guess I'll need to find a different launcher app. :(

Love this Microsoft Launcher. The idea of having a different wallpaper every day is a great option to have. The wallpaper pictures are beautiful. Seeing these pictures always feel as if one's is standing right in front of those ever changing sceneries. The down sides are either lagging or freezing of this app. But overall it's a great app, and it's improving for the best at this point.

This is AWESOME! I installed it with some trepidation, but not only is this such a great app, it is very intuitive (at least for me). For example, on Android phones you flick upward to move to the apps holding area. Then your area supposed to remember to flick left and right to scroll through the app bank. With the MS Launcher, you continue with the flick up and down (that you started with! That makes more sense to me! THANK YOU!

I've been using this since it was in beta. Overall, I really enjoy the launcher. Not a fan of the new update however. I see where some settings were made easier to access, but it has thrown off much of my memory. App folders no longer have a grid of 4x4, they are now all 3x3 with multiple pages. Even if I don't have to scroll, all the icons are in a different place. The app drawer just looks different, I think there is extra white space which throws me off, but it's not as bad as the folders.

Compared to the default Home App on my phone, this just completely blows it out of the water. This adds customization that I didn't even think I would have seen in a phone, like for example, with how many apps you can have on the home screen. You can boost that area up to s 12 by 12 area for apps and then still have the space for those static apps on the bottom. This app is extremely well made and fulfills most of my needs of how a phone should work.

Very well organized and yet quite attractive to look at. Easy to navigate. Using the Setup program made the software easy to install, but it still has great flexibility. Whenever I have a question, Microsoft responds immediately. And my favorite is the gorgeous photography that changes everyday. This puts a smile on my face to start the day. Bill I just had to transfer to a new phone and Microsoft Launcher set up the new phone in minutes and kept my previous choices. Great

I'm a Microsoft girl, but this one I'm going to say that it's Okay. Too conflicting and confusing with my Android system. It's not simplified, at least that's my experience. I like the fact it has lots of features in settings, but I think the features are a little too heavy and give you too many options. I didn't like how my home screen was set up with widgets that I don't use from my home screen, and it was too much unnecessary work to configure and simplify.

It's a nice slimmed down interface. Without it, my apps (all organized into separate folders) took up 1 1/2 screens. MS works their magic here to allow me to fit all my stuff on one screen. The productivity screen when you swipe right from the home screen is a nice touch as well, giving you quick access to notes, calendar events and news. Also, it allows you to use icon packs to personalize your phone even more.
