Please fix the following. 1) SAVE MY PROGRESS mid unit. Whenever I start this app again after an hour I find all my progress for that section is lost. This is a huge issue and doesn't happen on any other language app. 2) Google speech recognition blocks the words you are reading . 3) When animating the letters after an input, you cannot enter another one. 4) Add dictionary definitions for words you click on. 5) Fix the font layout. Romaji is in the wrong place, furigana doesn't appear at all.

This app is actually very beginner friendly except one aspect. When speaking the app will show you what was recognized so you have an idea of how to correct your speech to be more accurate when speaking. The critical issue with this though is that you shows you in a mixture of katana, hiragana and kanji. The katana and hiragana denoting what you said is fine, but using any kanji to show what you spoke might as well have shown me nothing as that is the most complex part of Japanese.

Things I love: 1. Great UI. 2. It shows romanji(English spelling) alongside the Japanese. 3. Rewarding responses when you get something right. 4. It actually explains what things mean. Things I dislike: 1. The romanji often does not format correctly, which is confusing. 2. The grammar explanations are often bad. 3. I wish I could click on any word to see it's definition. Overall it's great for practice, but you'll need to get explanations elsewhere like tokini Andy or Genki.

Definitely for beginners, and I can't find a way to properly jump forward to higher N5/N4, just the first 2 sections. However, I really like the setup and way it's taught. I don't like that I get asked to leave a review every time I do basically anything in the app. (Edit: the perils of being asked to review constantly means I've now found the feature that lets you skip ahead, but after I'd left my review to stop getting the pop ups). Definitely worth a go.

Way better than Duo-lingo for Japanese. This is one of, if not the best Japansse learning apps I have tried (and I've tried quite a few). I like that that they have you practice writing the kanji you learn, and also that they have you speak each bit, making sure you say it correctly (and it actually works). They also have the "theory" you can review after each lesson, or whenever you want, so you can practice the exact bit you need, if you didn't fully get something or if you forgot. 👍🏻

This app is amazing. Ive been looking for a way to learn japanese for months, and this has by far been the most helpful. The only issue is you have to pay to fully learn the language. But you can learn quite a bit before you have to pay. And the premium membership is very worth it, as well as they have a lifetime membership. Which i bought for 20 dollars, but usually its 70 - 80. So fairly cheap. Plus the ads aren't obnoxious, which is always a plus.

So far, so good. At least, for me, speech recognition works perfectly. I am a native Spanish speaker, so the letters sound almost the same, which are easier to pronounce, therefore, easier to recognize. The app is engaging, and you learn full sentences. The UI is excellent. No ads so far.

Best app I have used for learning Japanese. Saved up my allowance to purchase the whole course and I have not regretted it! It explains the grammar well, has short modules, and is fun to use. It also teaches you Kanji stroke orders. You probably won't be 100% fluent by the end of the course, but you will have learned a LOT. Three weeks using this taught me more than three months of Duolingo. The only thing I would suggest is a better review system.

Great app but minus a star because the voice recognition for the "speech" lessons has some issues, it simply refuses to work sometimes for certain phrases and no matter how accurate, fast, slow, or clearly you try to say it, it will simply always say a word is wrong even when it hears the word perfectly fine when isolated I sat there for almost half an hour trying to get it to understand me saying certain words only for it to just randomly work one time and I have no idea why

Super great for learning Japanese! Not only does it teach you hiragana, katakana and kanji, it has lessons that explain grammatical structure and purpose of words and phrases (which makes it better than Duolingo already!) When I first started using it there was a tiny bug in the speaking exercises, but I sent a note to the developers and it's been resolved. I love it, and the dog mascot is so cute and makes me happy to learn!

I like the app, I actually think its more informative than Duolingo. It does have bugs, though. Sometimes the app acts like Im levels behind the point Im actually at. When this happens Im unable to progress or do the levels that Im on because I "havent unlocked them" even though I have... Not sure how to fix it as this only happens sometimes. Other than this issue Ive really enjoyed using the app.

Decent app for learning Japanese, but know this. After the beginner and early lessons it becomes quite apparent that this app was not created by people with a firm grasp on English. Sometimes the English translations are bizarre or in the wrong tense. There are many typos in the explanation pages for words and phrases. All that said, You can still learn Japanese but I wouldn't rely on this app alone. Also, there is an internal report system for errors but I've not seen anything get fixed.

This app is much better than Duolingo in terms of approach. Not only do you hear and see the words you're learning but you can speak it and get graded in pronunciation. And it teaches you how to write the words too. It also explains the sentence structure and the difference between characters. I purchased the all access and it was very much worth the money.

Of all of the Japanese learning apps I have tried this one is by far the best. they give you lessons in vocabulary and grammar, as well as options for different words for informal or more polite speaking. I've never paid for an app before, but I sprung for the lifetime membership which is quite a deal. Much better than Duolingo.

This app is amazing! I love the UI because it allows me to go back and re take any lesson I want. In my opinion it is way better than Duolingo for Japanese because it will help with context by putting things in brackets (like this) and it provides some SUPER helpful documentation that explains a lot about certain words and phrases. My only critiques are small nitpicks like how in the matching game the words disappear instead of just graying out. Got a lifetime subscription for $20 on Halloween!

Having used duolingo for quite some time to try and learn Japanese, I feel that this app is far more informative and accurate. Having dictionary entries for each word really helps. I really love that the app makes you practice writing the characters, because that's something I think a lot of Japanese learning apps lack. If you are a beginner looking for an app to learn Japanese, I would recommend this one.

One of the best Japanese learning apps that I've tried so far. It offers many features that Duolingo doesn't, such as speaking practice, stroke practice for both kanji and kana, flashcards, flagging words you want to review, and theory/word explanations. It is also very easy to use. The fact that it focuses on N5 and N4 allows it to really delve into the material. Definitely worth the price for the full course.
Corey Vincent
Enjoying the app so far. Just started using it. Feels similar to duolingo, but does a much better job explaining the meanings of why and how things are said. The drawing of the characters is much better than others I have tried as well. Had a hickup with the app that made it crash when starting up. The developer was quick to fix the problem and got me going again. Great support.
