Welcome to the beta program for Microsoft SwiftKey Keyboard - here you can test early performance updates, new unreleased features, customizations, and special themes. Thanks for helping us make Microsoft SwiftKey the best it can be!

The Microsoft SwiftKey beta app for Android will not replace the regular Microsoft SwiftKey app on your phone, but will be downloaded as a second app so you can switch between the two for comparison.

Beta Expectations

Features in the beta app are in active development and might not work perfectly or ever be released to the main Microsoft SwiftKey app.

My previous reviews have mysteriously disappeared. Swipe functionality remains completely unintelligent. Talking to text results in numerous errors. I spend more time correcting words than simply typing/swiping or talking to text them. This app generates words I've never even heard of. This is the fourth time I've tried to use this app and it remains as disfunctional as ever. If this is an intro to AI taking over the world, it will be a miserable failure.

Microsoft SwiftKey is very good. It is free with no ads, and I do recommend this keyboard. It has themes, arrows to move cursor up, down, left, and right, that is one of my favorites features, and other features like floating keyboard, resize keyboard, and other very useful features. Beta is also stable with no bugs.

The Beta and Non-Beta are the same release: 8.10.17.3. That's not really the way a Beta program is intended to work. It seems logical to be able to send your user data between the Beta and Non-Beta releases and vice versa. Even though both of them are doing backup and sync to the same MS account and SwiftKey ID, the personal dictionary, stats, and UI theme downloads don't have a transfer option. I'm on the Non-Beta and it doesn't make sense to go to the Beta to end up with only a fresh start.

I just installed I this morning on 02/13/21. So far, the first thing that jumped was how fast it is. Lightning fast! It types fast, it searches fast, it load the themes SUPER fast! Wow... The only bug I thought I was experiencing it was that it didn't predict my Emojis but I think that it went back to learn my Emojis. far... The rest of the dictionary is working according to the way it was. No. Actually, the predictions are so much better than the older version...! 😊

What have you done, Microsoft?? I've used this app for years with excellent results. Now all of a sudden the voice feature is ruined, absolutely ruined. If you pause in your speech for half a second it shuts off. Not only that, but you can no longer click on a word and correct it like you used to be able to. I am disgusted and frankly saddened. This app was so great and now it's garbage. I will have to find something else to use and it makes me sick. From 5 stars to 1. Sad!

I have been very happy with this keyboard. It runs smoothly, quickly, and lite on the touch without any hang ups. The only issue I have with it; is when you change your white background to dark in your Gmail, it will be the same color, not the keyboard color I picked. It still preforms well in the Gmail app. Another thing I'm trying to understand is how to use the spell check correctly. I've given this, Microsoft SwiftKey Beta App, 5 Stars. 🤗

This used to be such a good app. Now it gets some really weird ideas about words it thinks I use. Most annoyingly, it will come up with a wrong word and refuse to give it up, even when I scribble madly all over the keyboard. I've had to delete at least half the built in dictionary to make it even halfway functional. It used to scan things you had written in the past but now it's just a hot mess. Looking for replacement app.

Has been undoubtedly 5 stars until the last few weeks. Recently, there are very specific words, regular things like "email" and "still", that when I try and swipe them in, the word will appear in the suggested bar, but I cannot click it, nor does it actually enter in the desired text field. If I start to type the word manually, I still cannot click it in the suggestion bar, I have to type the word in its entirety.

Predicts and chooses words and phrases I've never typed before/taught the keyboard, nonstop. No way to just type a simple sentence without having to go back and retype Every. Other. Word. Wth went wrong with this app? There's no way to delete the personal dictionary in order to restart it from scratch and get rid of all the extraneous words and phrases so there's at least a chance of an accurate sentence to come out of it. *Sigh* Really annoying.

I use various swype keyboards. It always seems that after several months I have to switch. So I'm back here again after GBoard started getting glitchy. Each keyboard has its own peculiarities, too complicated to explain. The very best one ever, one that rarely did weird things, was Swype + Dragon. I don't know why it disappeared, but I miss it with every keystroke. So, this one will have to do till I need to switch to another in a month or two. Oh well.

I do like this keyboard, it's one of the best. But it used to have the perfect size, now even the biggest size is way too small. The new resizing tool is great if it actually allows you to get the perfect size. But it does not. I've seen a lot of complaints of it being too big or too small and after each update it caters to either or. Why not cater to both. Edit: YES!!!! They actually increased the keyboard height. I could not be happier, thank you for listening!!!!

This has become unusable in some contexts (right now it's fine, five minutes ago in Twitter, it produced gobbledygook). Essentially, it will show one (often correct) version of what I've typed in the entry window, and a second option (often the last character of that word) as the "autocorrect" entry, which it will revert to if I proceed normally. I've done everything short of reinstalling the app to fix it. The appearance of this bug coincides with your most recent update.

Newest update is useless in that it has completely ruined the ability to do voice dictation. You can only go three or four words without the dictation turning itself off and you having to restart the dictation. This problem does not occur with the regular keyboard, it is only with the beta, so it must be a keyboard issue rather than a Google dictation issue. I'd be stunned if they developer actually read this, but if you do please understand that some of us need the voice dictation.

I used to love everything about this keyboard but the latest update completely ruined it for me because of the updated voice to text function. It's completely worthless. It keeps stopping listening in the middle of sentences. It doesn't let you update words without backing all the way to the keyboard (and the predictions of what words you meant has gotten substantially worse). Please fix!! I use the voice to text several times a day while running my business and I may need to uninstall the app.

Really great keyboard app. The best, in my opinion! I've been using it for years and I'm still blown away by how accurate the text prediction is and emoji support is great! One thing I would love to see added that I have used in other keyboards is shortcuts. For example, "ty" becomes "thank you" and so forth. Being able to program in our own shortcuts like in the Samsung keyboard, for example, would be a great way to make this an even better keyboard in my opinion.

I like the predictive text. Some of the autocorrect needs some fine tuning. When typing 'going' and it comes up as 'gong' without 'going' to be a choice. I think what I would request the most is when hitting the number/extra characters button, to have an actual standard keypad display like phone and/or number keypad on a keyboard. Simply removing letters does not provide much. Also, if it could not put an extra space when correcting things. A space as one types is great, but if I have to go back to correct, that extra space to delete is annoying. Other than that, I've tried many different keyboards, and prefer Swiftkey over the others.

The update a couple weeks ago broke a lot of things and it's just gotten worse. Typing accuracy is off and this wasn't a problem before the update. Also, long pressing for symbols often stops working and the only way to fix it is by force stopping the keyboard. Lastly, a lot of times when swiping words, they show up as a prediction but don't actually get typed into the text box
Ugly Casanova
It is a decent alternative and the AI integration could be amazing if implemented a bit better. Slow to load right now and doesn't really fit into the chat box sleekly. The custom image for the background is a nice feature but I was there was a bit more customization to it. Overall it's pretty good but hopefully it gets better integration of the AI searching and some extra options.
