Description of FX File Explorer

FX File Explorer features a Material Design UI and new ways to transfer your files between devices and computers:

* SMBv2 support.
* New "FX Connect" transfers files from phone-to-phone with Wi-Fi Direct. Supports NFC to connect two phones by physically touching their backs together. (requires FX+)
* New "Web Access" enables transfer and management of files and media from your computer's web browser. You can drag-and-drop entire folders to your phone from your computer, or stream your phone's music playlists to your computer over Wi-Fi. (requires FX+)

FX is a file explorer built to make working with files and media on your phone or tablet as easy as it is on your computer:

* Productivity-oriented "Home Screen": Directly access your important folders, media, and cloud storage
* Multiple window support, with dual-view mode to see two windows at once
* "Usage View" mode shows the total size and content makeup of every folder, as you browse and manage files
* Support for most file archive formats

FX protects your privacy:

* No advertisements
* No tracking of user activity: FX does not ever "phone home"
* Built by NextApp, Inc., a US corporation founded in 2002; all proprietary code was developed in-house

The optional FX+ Add-On module enables more functionality:

* Access networked computers, including FTP, SSH FTP, WebDAV, and Windows Networking (SMB1 and SMB2)
* Connect to cloud storage including Google Drive, Dropbox, SugarSync, Box, SkyDrive, and OwnCloud
* Manage installed applications, with support for browsing applications based on their required permissions
* Create and explore inside AES-256/AES-128 encrypted zip files
* Browse audio content by artist/album/playlist; manage and organize playlists
* Directly browse photo and video folders
* Encrypted password keyring (use one password to access network and cloud locations)

FX includes a number of built-in editing/viewing applets:

* Text Editor (with undo/redo history, cut/paste, search, and pinch-to-zoom)
* Binary (Hex) Viewer
* Image Viewer
* Media Player and pop-up Audio Player
* Zip, Tar, GZip, Bzip2, 7zip archive creators and extractors
* RAR file extractor
* Shell Script Executor

Android 8 / 9 Location Permission Notice

* NOTE: Android 8.0+ unfortunately required us to add the "approximate location" permission, as it's now required for apps that support Wi-Fi direct (because Wi-Fi direct leaks this information). FX does not ever actually query your location, and this permission will only ever be asked for on Android 8.0 and later when using FX Connect. This requirement previously applied only to Android 9.0, but because FX now specifies full support for the latest Android API, Android 8.0 also requires this permission.

This is the best file explorer i have EVER used. Only thing I'm missing is being unable to play MID/MIDI files. I'm too tired to change the name of all mid files to m4a. Or we can select all our files from the same format and change the name from there, that would save so much more time. Beautiful design, and the newest root explorer to date.

Great app! Three requests from me: 1. Please add the ability to save the Display As setting per folder as it is done with Sort By. Both should be saved per folder. 2. Make folder zooming work in increments of 10%, the current implementation is too fine. 3. Let us choose the default landing screen to be Main storage for example or any other favourite place instead of the home screen.

Ok. I'm admit this one of best file manager and explorer app in Play Store. This app can analyze storage with disk pie chart illustration. This app also able to bypass Android 13 restrictions folder including Android system. Even if user doesn't want buy a premium, most features in app free and no ads but I think this app deserve to be purchase for support developer. Kudos to developer. Despite very good app, there are some small bad issue need to fix it but too long I want listed.

Cannot enable write access to my SD card. Developers don't help, or reply for support. I've reported the app to Google since it is mandatory to supply support for apps. Developer screwed up so much functionality with the application. It tracks your GPS. Now tell me why a file manager app has to access my coordinates?! F.U. to the developers. Hope you all rot in hell. Downgrade to a older version. 7.1 seems to have all functions back. Fk you to the developer. I hope you get nuked.

Edit: cleared data's app and seems to have corrected the issue. OLD: Can't read nor modify anything on the SD card, no matter what I do. Access gets denied every time, can work with Google Files but sadly not with this app. Google's privacy policy or whatever they call it not granting access to main folders is such an annoying and stupid thing but that's sand from another sack. Using Android 13.

Very much appreciate the ad-free approach and commitment to privacy. Has all the functions I need for free, and all the functions I want in premium. Will use this over better-looking apps because of the dev philosophy. Could use a design refresh though, it *looks* a bit clunky/cluttered even though the interface is quick and intuitive to use.

It could be fantastic BUT, media players never function right when you use this file manager on Android 13. They just buffer and buffer.....and buffer but never play. I have the very old and very dead es pro from a LONG time ago. It doesn't do this and it's a dead app from like Android 4. A file manager that doesn't let you start watching anything isn't really useful. Is it.

This is the best file explorer app, period. It has an intuitive UI and every feature you will ever need, especially with a plus license which costs peanuts. Convenient, fast, does its job on whatever device be it a phone, tablet or smart tv.

No ADS! No unnecessary permissions! Just straightforward functionality with numerous browsing possibilities and impeccable user interface. I personally use the 'Remove Duplicates' and "Show Large Files' so often. Plus lot's of customization options. This app is a life saver, i use it EVERY SINGLE DAY. I trust it to handle my files more than Android itself. Huge Thanks to the developers and even tho i don't need all the FX Plus extra functionalities, i will buy it just to support the app. ✌🏻

So sorry to have to do this, but I think I have waited enough for the developers to fix the issue. In the Modules section still appear the FX Plus Add-On as installed, but I no longer have access to my cloud services. Even when I re-add them and grant permision as requested, each time I try to access their content, I receive a Network Error or Denied Access message. And it happens with Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive; all of them.

Don't use this app, it doesn't have a lot of bug but sometimes even a simple bug could cost you, like I was moving some files on SD card and it got lost. I don't know where it went, it's completely lost, checked in all other file explorer even in PC but I can't find that file, it was some important file but it just got lost because of a simple bug.

Unnecessary UI changes in the recent update – why hide the filter button behind a menu? It's not like modern phones lack screen space. I would also like to set a default app for filetypes. As I don't want to use the inbuilt image viewer, pressing any image always brings up an "Open With" menu, even though nine times out of ten I just want it to be opened in my gallery app.

This app had been my favourite file explorer for years, and I even paid for the premium features. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it can no longer write to the SD card even when I grant it "write access". I tell it to save a picture into a folder, it pretends to save it, but has really not saved it. I have thus switched to X-plore which doesn't have that problem.

Exhibiting increasingly bizarre behaviour... Going back to home from whatever folder you've accessed frequently shows a blank screen, which either takes a very long time to show all the filesystems or worse, it doesn't show anything at all even after completely restarting the app. It used to work well. Now even with a completely fresh install it shows these issues.

I liked FX a lot but recently it started to just refresh the entire folder list of the camera folder every time I opened a photo there and closed it again Since that takes 10-15 seconds every time and moves me to the start of the file list, FX now has become completely unusable for me for copying some photos over. Please fix or tell me how to fix it - I do have the paid version, but can't comment there for some reason.

Great app. Bought it years ago. Use on every device, rooted or not. Doesn't operate in such a way that other apps do. By this i mean that it does not emphasize focus on root functionality. Using it with root is excellent and without it still keeps focus on its main functionality whereas other managers tend to lessen the experience with root options upfront and that breaks the continuity. Hope that makes sense! The wireless transfer options alone are great and extremely useful.

Absolutely love this explorer and have been using this for a while. Its smooth,fast,easy to use and ad free. What else could you ask for? However, I recently got a new device and I can no longer access the Android data folder because of Android 11 and you can only access that folder if you give the app the permission to manage all files which unfortunately Fx file explorer does not ask for. It simply says "access denied" when that folder is opened. Please, fix it as soon as possible.

I used this file explorer exclusively for several years and it worked great. Recently I began having some problems with it. It would not connect to shares in my private network, for instance. After I got a new phone, with a more recent version of Android, this app lost a lot of usefulness. For instance you can't make it be able access certain folders in your phone. Sadly, it seems this app has been left to die.
