Description of UserLAnd - Linux on Android

UserLAnd is an open-source app which allows you to run several Linux distributions like Ubuntu,
Debian, and Kali.

- No need to root your device.
- Use a built-in terminal to access your favorite shells.
- Easily connect to VNC sessions for a graphical experience.
- Easy setup for several common Linux distributions, like Ubuntu and Debian.
- Easy setup for several common Linux applications, like Octave and Firefox.
- A way to experiment and learn Linux and other common software tools from the palm of your hand.

UserLAnd was created and is being actively maintained by the folks behind the popular Android
application, GNURoot Debian. It is meant as a replacement for the original GNURoot Debian app.

When UserLAnd first launches, it presents a list of common distributions and Linux applications.
Clicking one of these then leads to a series of set-up prompts. Once these have been completed,
UserLAnd will download and set up files required to start the task that has been selected. Based on
the set-up, you will then be connected to your Linux distribution or application in a terminal or
VNC viewing Android application.

Does what advertised and even sideloads on fire tv devices. Cheap price for pro feature unlock and it's very worth the cost

Wish it was free. I really love this app but I recently noticed that they locked some items behind a paywall that used to be free.

Fast, full-featured (Termux is missing too much by default for my taste), good-looking, and allows easy management of multiple installations. I use one filesystem as a "daily driver" for programming projects and create & destroy others as needed to help make scripts for installing/building third-party projects or to attempt to recreate problems when I'm acting as tech support.

kali is not working, it says service starting, but it's not starting

Great app easy to use interface

The App is not working. It's crashing again and again, unable to use any distribution.

Great App! I'm running Debian with it and so far my experience has been flawless. I highly recommend this app if your planning to compile programs or do anything else a normal Linux install can do. Sure, you can't modify the android system it's running on with it, but that's to be expected with any android app unless you have rooted your device. So 5 stars all around!

It's ad free. That's the only benefit. Uses broken methods and just doesn't work like it says. Also, from what I can tell not a clean uninstall. I tried Ubuntu and it mostly worked but some helpful files were missing and it caused a few problems trying to get them. Also, somehow I got it to run inside the app without a viewer until it just didn't? Had too much problems with the Ubuntu and tried debian but that just straightup didn't install. I think this might work on other Android versions tho.

Updated: Not really sure why I had issues first time. Error indicated not compatible, reboot resolved. Very easy to use, very turnkey. For beginners I would recommend this over Termux. X is far easier to set up. Very useable, very helpful. Going to try it on a tablet for larger GUI experience.

I'm getting a "permission denied" when running ip a. Any idea why?

This makes it incredibly easy to run Linux on top of Android, which means I can ssh into a running Linux VM, download my source code from GitHub, compile and run a Java web application, and then access that application using my phone's browser!

It's a great learning tool and I'm impressed that such a thing can exist! Turn your phone into a damn super computer mane! It's cool!!! The initial layout and steps could be a bit clearer, but .. it's cooooo!!!!

App was easy to run at a basic level and ran a Linux desktop on Android without root and without a lot of configuration. Includes a vnc client for accessing the desktop that starts automatically. It's nice as far as it goes, but I spent a lot of time trying to set the desktop resolution to my panel's native 2560x1600 and it always reset it to 1000x600 which was barely usable for many gui apps. Eventually went to Andronix instead which was more manual but didn't keep resetting to low resolution.

Cannot get started on real work. Tlf will not allow writing to Android/data.../storage. So cannot transfer in any unix content from other machines. Motorola g22. Not a Userland fault but fatal for serious use.

Appreciate the hard work yall. Anyone running into issues probly isnt taking the time to research the details of what youre trying. Which may just not be possible. But the app is very well made
