Description of Collabora Office

Collabora Office is a text editor, spreadsheet and presentation program based on LibreOffice, the world's most popular Open Source office suite - and now it's on Android, enhancing your possibilities to work on mobile and for collaboration.

This app is in active development, feedback and bug reports are very welcome.

Supported files:

• Open Document Format (.odt, .odp, .ods, .ots, .ott, .otp)
• Microsoft Office 2007/2010/2013/2016/2019 (.docx, .pptx, .xlsx, .dotx, .xltx, .ppsx)
• Microsoft Office 97/2000/XP/2003 (.doc, .ppt, .xls, .dot, .xlt, .pps)

About the app:

Collabora Office for Android uses the same engine as LibreOffice for Windows, Mac, and Linux. This, combined with a new front-end based on Collabora Online, reads and saves documents similarly to LibreOffice desktop.

Collabora Engineers Tor Lillqvist, Tomaž Vajngerl, Michael Meeks, Miklos Vajna, Jan Holešovský, Mert Tümer and Rashesh Padia have been developing Android support since 2012, with the help of Google Summer of Code students Andrzej Hunt, Iain Billet and Kaishu Sahu.

A very important option is not available. I can't merge cells of a table and i cannot select or copy a whole table. It has merge option but doesn’t work, and the font style doesn’t work too.

Love that there's a FOSS option, but this app needs some work. Lag is quite bad even with the simplest of spreadsheets, it crashes with some regularity, and the dark mode doesn't function properly yet. It worked for weeks, then suddenly all of my text, despite being set to "automatic color" (meaning, with dark mode turned on, text should all be white) has suddenly switched to black, and is invisible on dark mode. Really want to love it and keep using it, but it's become too frustrating. Pixel 6

A huge huge win for Open Source community across the globe. This is the true, full blown word processing and spreadsheet application. I require to use formulas in excel and also header, footer, bullets - numbered and dots, INSERTING TABLES! This app has all of these and there are no ads or upgrades. I must mention that the app is quite glitchy. Especially when I insert the cursor in a word. Huge bummer! But I'm sure that's going to be ironed out with the coming releases!!!

Tried again after my experience last year when opening ANY file immediately crashed the app. It is now working well & has opened every supported document that I tried. It even correctly displayed an Excel spreadsheet that M/Soft's own app mucked up. Only downside I have found is that it won't close after displaying a large file with lots of graphics. It just displays the closing graphic and never finishes closing. It needs to be force closed from recent apps list to exit. Overall very useful

Edit spread sheets from my NAS on my phone with WebDAV and CX file explorer. How cool is that!

Not that bad but almost doesn't support mouse and keyboard usage. Just tried in on spreadsheets and I can't scroll, CTRL+Scroll, or almost anything else that I could do on a computer. Settings are basically empty, can't even get a dark mode. I'm really trying to get a computer experience since it's cheaper than buying a laptop but I'm not getting what I'm looking for.

Would benefit from having a context menu that displays only once when you "tap and hold." Its current response to "tap and hold" is to assume that you are making a number of requests to copy or paste. The number of requests increases according to the length of time that you hold. After you lift your finger you then have to wait while the screen works through displaying each of those perceived requests.

It seems fairly decent, but it lacks mouse scroll and I cannot click and hold the blue "teardrops" to highlight text to copy and paste with the mouse (which every other Office app on Android supports). The app does, however, show more words, in any given document, on the screen than competing office apps, which is good. There also doesn't seem to be an easily accesd way to insert tables either.

I think I finally found an excellent piece of software to utilize ODT documents. I was very surprised to see humongous menus popping up and very satisfied. However there seems to be a small problem changing the font color, I type a few words, click and select a new color and it reverts to the color I was using initially. Aside from that I am very pleased.

Great alternative to other products and can be used on the go. Disadvantages -- button for italicized text is not so easy to find when the keyboard isn't opened; to exit from presentation mode (for ODP), You need to lock and unlock the screen, otherwise I couldn't do it. UPD: Thank You for the reply. Regarding the second issue, maybe the tap on the last slide can be made a shortcut for exiting the presentation mode?

As an alternative to docs with the way Google is going, I'm going to stick with this. However, I would love to see dark mode capabilities in the actual document writer, not just the file select screen. Another con is it doesn't seem to implement my keyboards autocorrect features (typing lower case i and it not auto capitalizing as an example) so integration of that might be a nice feature in the future Overall, a decent application given some of the more difficult UI's out there.

Just “nowhere” me
Please implement DARK MODE FOR DOCUMENT so we get dark background paper & white or grey font. As you already finished dark mode for app itself. Very nice open source office app. Keep going 💪

This is awesome. So glad Libreoffice has been taken to mobile! This is an awesome pairing with Nextcloud. The apps work buitifully in Samsung Dex! Excellent job!

It is no longer working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it and it will open the selector page but then it crashes when I try to open a file or create a new one.

I used this app for a year to read excel and other office docs. But the most recent release (Sept 2023) has me looking for a replacent. A common function to filter xls columns no longer functions and I need that. So...
